Curriculum Vitae

Max Schneider (*1974) is a research assistant at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Institut für Kulturwissenschaften and teaches sound art at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig. He also works as a freelance sound designer for contemporary artists and experimental film makers, festival producer and curator as well as founding member of the sound design agency Aconica. Currently he works in the research project Functional Sounds at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, focussing on sound design methodology at the heart of applied functional sound design production. At the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig he is the head of the sound art department within the audiovisual laboratory where he is teaching, coaching and realizing interdisciplinary projects with art students. Being rooted in contemporary art, he works for media artists, experimental film makers and theater directors as sound supervisor, composer and live performer. His long term collaborations with artists by the likes of Candice Breitz and Bjørn Melhus led to multiple large scale audio visual installations and award winning experimental films. Exhibition and festival productions include X-Sounds at Ballhaus Naunyn Strasse in 2007 (Berlin), Resonanzen 2010 - Festival für Hörkunst (Leipzig), Klang im Namen des Raums in 2010 (Berlin) and the current production of Resonanzen 2012 - Singing Spaces (Leipzig).
